a long, overdue update
The past few months have been full, exciting, and life-giving. Every day I am reminded how grateful I am that God has called me to serve alongside the children and staff here in Eswatini at Project Canaan.
One of the highlights of this season was Transit Weekend, a special retreat for our Grade 6 and Grade 7 students as they prepare to transition into new seasons of life and leadership. It was an intentional time of discipleship, worship, games, conversations, and encouragement. Watching these young people ask questions about faith, wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus, and build deeper friendships was incredibly special. I left the weekend encouraged by the next generation and excited for what God is doing in their hearts.
Another major highlight was Camp Canaan. Over 400 children, staff members, and volunteers came together for an unforgettable time of worship, teaching, community, and fun. There is something powerful about seeing hundreds of people gathered together, lifting up the name of Jesus and creating space to encounter Him. Our theme this year was "Planting Seeds of Hope" and we talked about how God is planting something in us, God is growing something in us, and God can use us to help others. Camp was filled with laughter, meaningful conversations, and moments where we saw God moving in the lives of our children. It was exhausting in all the best ways and one of my favorite weeks of the year.
This summer we were also blessed to have six interns serve alongside us for seven weeks. It was such a gift to watch them invest in the lives of our children and students. They have taught lessons, led activities, built relationships, and used their gifts to serve wherever they were needed. The children absolutely loved having them here, and I was encouraged watching these young leaders step into ministry and pour into the next generation. Their impact on our community has been significant, and we are so thankful for the time they spent with us.
We've also had the joy of welcoming many friends and teams who have traveled to Project Canaan to serve. Every visitor brings encouragement, fresh perspective, and a reminder that there are people around the world who care deeply about what God is doing here. Whether helping with projects, spending time with the children, or simply being present, these teams have made a lasting impact on our community.
Personally, I have continued working closely with our Spiritual Life Department, helping create opportunities for children to grow in their faith and develop their own relationship with Jesus. One of the greatest privileges of serving here is getting to walk alongside children as they discover who God is and begin to understand His love for them. Some of my favorite moments happen in the everyday conversations; sitting in my office, walking across campus, hanging out at the park, or hearing a child share what God is teaching them.
As I look ahead, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving here and for each of you who make this ministry possible through your prayers, encouragement, and support. Your partnership allows me to be present in these moments and invest in the lives of these children.
